Ingredients

  • 2 slices whole wheat bread I use Dave's Killer Bread Brand
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup whole milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ tablespoon unsalted butter

Instructions

  • Whisk the egg, milk, vanilla extract and cinnamon in a medium sized bowl.
  • Add one slice of bread to the bowl and let it soak into the egg mixture. Turn the slice over to soak the other side.
  • Heat a nonstick pan on medium high heat.  When the pan is hot, add butter to the pan.
  • After the butter melts, add the egg soaked slice of bread to the pan. Lower heat to medium and cook for about 3 minutes, making sure the egg is cooked thoroughly.
  • Flip the toast when golden brown and cook for another 3 minutes.
  • Repeat with the other slice of bread.

Notes

  • Serve with fresh cut berries and other fruit like banana. You can also add some yogurt on the side for baby to dip it into.
  • You can freeze these in an airtight container. To reheat frozen french toast, toast them in the toaster oven on 300°F for about 5-7 minutes.
  • You can replace the milk for other milk alternatives such as oat or almond milk. Just make sure your baby can tolerate the alternative milk.
  • Before baby tries anything new, make sure to introduce single ingredients every 3-5 days to ensure baby is not allergic. As long as baby has already been introduced to each ingredient (egg, bread, milk, cinnamon and vanilla extract) with no allergic reactions, then french toast will be okay for babies to eat. If your baby shows any signs of atopic dermatitis, allergic rhinitis, or asthma, please talk to your doctor before introducing new foods.
