Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown rice use the cup that came with the rice cooker. Short, medium or long grain brown rice will work.
  • 1 ¾ cup water use the cup that came with the rice cooker
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt

Instructions

  • Measure 1 cup rice and add it to the rice cooker pot.
  • Rinse and drain the rice three times or until the water runs clear. Drain well to avoid soggy rice.
  • Add 1 ¾ cups water to the pot and soak the rice for 30 minutes. If short on time, soak for at least 10 minutes.
  • Cook on brown rice setting, or multigrain setting on the rice cooker. If you do not have a multi function rice cooker just press cook on the standard rice cooker.
  • Once it’s done, let the rice sit on “keep warm” for about 5 minutes. Then gently fluff with a fork or rice paddle to separate the grains.
