Rice cooker beef gyudon is an easy, one-pot meal that is flavorful and satisfying, with tender beef and fluffy rice. This is a simplified version of the Yoshinoya beef bowl. Just add the ingredients to a rice cooker, press cook, and you’ll have a comforting Japanese-style rice bowl with minimal hands-on cooking.
Add the beef, soy sauce, mirin, and sugar to a mixing bowl. Toss until the beef is evenly coated, set it aside while you prepare the rice and onions.
Rinse the rice with water, three times and drain well to remove excess water before cooking.
Thinly slice the onion.
Add the rinsed rice and water to the rice cooker pot. Stir in the dashi powder.
Layer the top with the sliced onions.
Layer the marinated beef evenly over the onions.
Close the lid and select the regular white rice setting. Cook until the cycle finishes, approximately 30 minutes, depending on your rice cooker. Check that the beef is fully cooked before serving.

Notes
Drain the rice well - Remove any excess water from the rinsed rice and washed vegetables to prevent the rice from turning mushy during cooking.
Recook if needed - If the beef or rice isn’t fully cooked, press the “COOK” button again to start another cycle until everything is cooked through.
Cooking times may differ depending on the rice cooker model.
