Equipment
Rice Cooker – I use a Cuckoo six-cup model, which is perfect for our family of four and can cook enough rice for large gatherings. While this rice cooker has multiple functions, I use the regular rice cooking function to ensure consistent results, even for those with a simple one-button rice cooker.
If you have a single-function rice cooker with just a cook and heat button, this recipe will work too! I’ve tested this method on a one-function Tayama rice cooker, and it works great.
Ingredients
Large eggs -This recipe is tested on large eggs. Small, medium and extra large eggs may have slightly different cooking times.
Instructions
1. Add 1 cup of water to the rice cooker pot (for larger rice cookers, add more water as needed).
2. Place the eggs straight from the fridge in the inner rice cooker pot—up to 7-8 eggs in my 6 cup rice cooker.
3. Close the lid and press the cook button.
4. Set a timer based on your preferred egg doneness.
5. Once done, transfer the eggs to an ice bath or run them under cold water to stop the cooking process. Turn off your rice cooker and unplug to prevent the water from further cooking and evaporating.
