My kiddos are becoming little sous chefs and want to be more involved in our kitchen. They love helping out with my rice cooker recipes like my easy rice cooker congee, rice cooker sushi rice, and rice cooker rice pilaf - it's a safe option and doesn't expose them to any open flames or dangerous heat sources. These rice cooker recipes are so delicious and much better than the store bought rice boxes!

Ingredients & Notes
Rice - I am using Jasmine rice, a long grain rice.
Chicken broth - Rather than using water, chicken broth will boost the flavor of the rice. You may use low sodium chicken broth, or water if you prefer to keep this dish on the lighter side, but the flavor won't be as savory.
Garlic - This is the main flavor for the rice, add more to your taste. Fresh garlic is preferred for brighter flavor.
Salted butter – Adds salt and fat for a richer flavor.
Kosher salt
Equipment
Rice Cooker– I just got a new rice cooker, the Cuckoo 6 cup Micom Rice Cooker and it cooks the most fluffiest and perfect rice!
Instructions
Wash and rinse the rice well.
Add the ingredients to the rice cooker pot, stir the ingredients together well.
Set the cooker to cook on the white rice cooking function.
When done, fluff the rice with a small plastic spoon and serve!
Pro Tips
- After you rinse the rice, make sure to drain the water very well. Give it a few hard shakes in the strainer to take out as much water as possible. Too much residual water may make the dish mushy.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the refrigerator.
- Cooking time will vary, depending on your rice cooker.
- Using different grains of rice will require different liquid measurements (long grain rice uses more water than short grain rice).
- Stir up all the ingredients well in the pot to ensure even distribution of flavors.
- Measurements are in US standard cup sizes, not the cup that comes with the rice cooker.

I love that this recipe can be used in a rice cooker. I did add more garlic ( love garlic) and added green onions when serving. My husband liked it so much he made eggs with the rice the next morning.

I only have unsalted butter, how much salt should I add?
Kaylie
Unsalted butter works just as well, I'd add in a pinch of salt before cooking. Then once it's done, fluff the rice and taste, then add more salt if necessary to taste.
Melissa
This is the best rice! My husband is not a fan of rice and he loved it!
Sally
This was pretty tasty. Not the same old boring rice. My husband is not a big rice fan and even he liked it. It did start to burn a little in the bottom of my rice cooker but not enough that you could taste it. I shut off the cooker before the it turned off automatically.
Lori
Very good. Adding the butter while cooking gave it a very nice crispy bottom in the rice cooker. Loved it. Served with Hawaiian garlicky shrimp.

How does this work with a fuzzy logic rice cooker?
Kaylie
It looks like this is a Zojurishi rice cooker. It has a white rice function, you can use that function to cook.
