Looking for a quick and delicious meal? These air fryer beef taquitos are so easy to make, even the kids can help out! My kids and husband enjoy dipping them in a variety of sauces like guacamole and salsa for an extra flavor bomb.  No need to deep fry these taquitos, they are just as delicious in the air fryer! Best of all, make a double batch – so you can freeze and cook the rest later in the air fryer for super busy days.

Here’s how to make these quick and easy air fryer taquitos in just 30 minutes.

    Ingredients

Ingredients on a table. Tortillas, cheese in a bowl, ground beef with seasoning in a bowl.

Ground beef – I use 80/20 ground beef, if preferred, you may use leaner ground beef, but it will have a drier texture with less flavor.

Seasoning – A simple blend of oregano, cumin, garlic powder, salt and pepper.

Cheese – I used a Mexican cheese blend.

Tortilla – I use a corn and flour blend. (So I guess these can be called air fryer taquitos or flautas)!  I do not recommend using 100% corn tortillas as they are too dry and can easily break. A corn and flour blend tortilla has more flexibility. You can also use flour tortillas, they’re even easier to roll.

Toothpicks – Helps to keep the rolled taquito in place.

    Air Fryer

    • I have a  Phillips XXL analog air fryer which has a 6 portion food capacity.
    • Cook in batches as needed. For my airfryer, I made 14 taquitos in two batches.
    • Make sure the air fryer basket and tray is clean prior to cooking.

    Instructions

Collage image. Top left image of tortilla with meat filling and cheese. Top right image of hands rolling a taquito. Bottom left image of rolled taquito with toothpick securing the roll. Bottom right image of 6 uncooked taquitos in an air fryer basket.
    1. Preheat the air fryer at 350 for 5-10 minutes.
    2. Season the ground beef and mix well.
    3. Add filling to the edges of the tortilla (the meat will shrink down when cooked). Add cheese, then roll the tortilla tightly. I did not sauté the filling, I found that cooking the filling first didn’t make a difference in taste or texture. Plus, it’s much quicker to just skip that step all together.
    4. Secure the tortilla with toothpicks.
    5. Lightly spray the taquitos evenly with oil.
    6. Add the taquitos, toothpick side down, in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
    7. Air fry for about 8 minutes until golden brown and crispy.

    FAQ

What can I serve air fryer taquitos (flautas) with?

There are so many great options. Add a side of guacamole, sour cream, salsa or pico de gallo. Hot sauce is a must if you like a kick of spice.

What’s the best way to store, and for how long?

Keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

What’s the best way to reheat?

Preheat the air fryer at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 to 10 minutes and air fry for about 6 to 7 minutes.
